This week’s Goldies Gives is all about Nick Young, one of the flashiest and most unpredictable players during his time with the Lakers. Known for his electrifying style both on and off the court, “Swaggy P” brought a unique energy to the team, and while his performance wasn't always consistent, it was always entertaining. During his four seasons with the Lakers (2013-2017), Young averaged around 13.1 points per game, with his best season coming in 2013-14, where he averaged 17.9 PPG. He was often a spark off the bench, known for his streaky shooting and big moments, but also had his fair share of off-court distractions that sometimes overshadowed his play.

What makes Nick Young so memorable isn’t just his stats, but his personality—he wasn’t always the most reliable, but when he was on, he was fun to watch. His style, confidence, and moments of brilliance made him a fan favorite, even though his time with the Lakers was marked by ups and downs, both personally and professionally. Despite his off-court troubles, including publicized personal issues, Young’s infectious enthusiasm and memorable performances made his tenure unforgettable for Lakers fans.

This reminds me of my own week. It wasn’t perfect, but man, was it fun. I had a blast watching the Colorado football game, which was packed with excitement and high energy, much like Nick Young when he was in his zone. I also got to spend time with family, which grounded the week in something truly good. Like Nick’s career with the Lakers, the weekend had its highs and lows, but the excitement and joy of the moments made it unforgettable. Just like Swaggy P, the week may not have been perfect, but it was packed with memorable moments that will stick with me.
